Trundlepuff

Hey everyone, Trent the Sewerman here today to directly bring you my new beastie! This one is a pet project. It's a little bit cute, a little bit bizarre, and includes some body horror elements to wrap it all together nicely. Everything you could want out of a Sewerman soup! Let's take a look.

So, I got inspiration for this little guy from the art itself. The preexisting fungi in 5e are great and all, but I wanted to create a walking (or trundling) fungus creature with a little more personality. Mind you, this little lad's Charisma still clocks in at 5, but you know what I mean.

I feel that plants often get the short end of the stick in Dungeons and Dragons as it is. Now, James took big steps to address this with his Hoarding Swordbrush (Check it out for some equipment-destroying goodness), but there's still plenty of room for growth, especially on the fungal side of things. The trundlepuff is a CR 1/8 creature through and through, with it's biggest ability being its Sweet Scent, a powerful smell that charms creatures and subtly attracts them to it. Flavorfully, this is meant to evoke real-world examples like the corpse flower. but, you know, it smells better.

I like the idea of these things being farmed for the purposes of their scent, used in scented candles and maybe even aphrodisiacs. Between their acidic touch and their ability to just kind of detonate, a colony of these little guys could prove a very memorable quest for a low-level party.
